Collaboration Profile · Experimental

The shape of the collaboration matters as much as the score

Two pieces of work can have similar Human Agency Index results and still reflect very different human–AI relationships. AgencyThread describes that relationship separately through an Experimental Collaboration Profile.

Insufficient Evidence is treated separately as an evidence status. It is not a sixth position on the collaboration spectrum.

01

Human-Led Creation

The human performs most of the substantive development. AI plays little or no material role in shaping the work itself.

The key feature is not that AI was absent. It is that the human remained the clear source of substantive development.

02

AI-Augmented Human Work

The human remains the primary developer, while AI provides meaningful assistance.

AI may support research, critique, organization, editing, or drafting without becoming a substantive co-developer of the underlying work.

03

Co-Intelligence

Human and AI both materially shape and develop the work through reciprocal interaction.

Each contribution changes what happens next. The process involves more than a human approving AI output and more than AI simply polishing human-created work.

04

AI-Led Collaboration

The human remains intellectually consequential, but AI performs a larger share of the substantive development.

The person may still frame the task, redirect the work, evaluate alternatives, and retain meaningful authority. The defining feature is that AI carries more of the detailed construction.

05

Delegated Generation

The human meaningfully frames or governs the task, while AI performs most of the substantive generation and development.

This can still be an entirely appropriate workflow. The profile describes what happened; it does not judge whether delegation was the right decision.

Descriptive, not ranked

These are collaboration patterns, not a ranking

No position on this spectrum is inherently superior. A well-governed Delegated Generation workflow may be exactly right for a routine task. Co-Intelligence is not automatically better because both parties contributed more.
